The art of the Marionette

Each puppet carries a hidden story, bound by invisible ties of love and craftsmanship. A puppeteer's dreams and desires can come to life in the enduring world of marionettes.

Creating Freya

Freya

It all began as a dream, quite literally: but dreams can indeed come true. Hidden away in Bochum, Germany, there's an old, glorious building where magic happens behind closed doors. In 2019 the Figurentheater-Kolleg became my sanctuary for ten weeks when I began a course on the art of puppetry.

During this period I immersed myself in the many different realms of puppeteering, exploring hand puppets, shadow theatre, mask making, and improvisation. I even delved into the captivating history of puppet theatre. During this time I discovered my passion for creating, restoring, and performing with marionettes.
